Description
Established in 1963, Lake’s Folly is a prestigious vineyard in the Hunter Valley. Under the ownership of Peter and Lee Fogarty, along with winemaker Rodney Kempe, the estate maintains its integrity and direction.
Lake’s Folly Chardonnay, one of their flagship wines, showcases restrained elegance and finesse. Made from low-yielding, estate-grown fruit, it undergoes barrel fermentation and eight months of aging on yeast lees in French oak barriques. This wine exhibits remarkable longevity, with vintages often exceeding 10 years.
The 2022 vintage, influenced by the La Nina weather pattern, resulted in an outstanding Chardonnay. Golden straw in color, it offers lifted aromas of peach, pear juice, and citrus, accompanied by hints of spice. The palate is tight and fine, with peach and pear flavors complemented by integrated French oak. Elegant and stylish, this wine displays great acidity and persistence, promising further development with time.
